Tongue & Lip Ties
Laser tongue & lip tie release for infants, kids & adults
If feeding has been painful or your baby just can't seem to latch, you are not imagining it — and you are not alone. A gentle laser release can make a real difference, often the same day.

- Usually no stitches
- 15 min from Manhattan
How ties show up
Signs of a tongue or lip tie, by age
Infants
Painful or shallow latch, clicking while feeding, falling asleep mid-feed, poor weight gain, reflux-like fussiness, or a lip that won't flange.
Children
Speech sounds that are hard to form, picky or messy eating, mouth breathing, snoring, or a gap between the front teeth.
Adults
Jaw tension, neck tightness, mouth breathing, disrupted sleep, or a lifetime of "I could never touch my tongue to the roof of my mouth."
Why the CO₂ laser
Gentle by design — not scissors
Dr. Kapoor uses the LightScalpel CO₂ laser rather than scissors. The laser seals tiny blood vessels as it releases the tissue, so there is minimal bleeding and, in most cases, no stitches. By sealing lymphatic vessels it also helps reduce swelling and discomfort — which means a faster, calmer recovery for your child.
Dr. Kapoor has practiced laser dentistry since 2017 and performs releases for infants as young as a few weeks old, all the way through adulthood.
What to expect
From consultation to comfortable feeding
- Consultation. We assess tongue and lip function, not just appearance, and listen to your feeding or breathing concerns.
- The release. If a tie is limiting function, the laser release itself takes only minutes.
- Red-light & follow-up. Infant consults include low-level red-light therapy and complimentary in-person follow-ups.
- Aftercare. Simple stretches keep the area open as it heals; we coordinate with your lactation consultant or myofunctional therapist.

Reviews
From families we've helped
Our experience with Dr. Kapoor was simply amazing. She was extremely kind and gentle with my 15-month-old son. We had the frenectomy done and his speech improved a lot afterward. I highly recommend her.
We've been going here from the beginning. The staff is very accommodating and professional with our child. We're always informed about progress and next steps. Their quality of life has improved dramatically — especially the sleep; they sleep very soundly now. Nothing but positive things to say about this office!
Dr. Kapoor is absolutely amazing! I found her on Instagram and loved seeing how she's helping kiddos. I have my own son seeing her now after attending one of her in-person lectures. She's professional, intelligent, and I'm looking forward to continuing my son's treatment with her. Highly recommended!
Tongue & lip tie: your questions
Does the laser procedure hurt my baby?
The CO₂ laser is quick and gentle. It seals tiny blood vessels as it works, so there is minimal bleeding and usually no need for stitches. Most infants are back to feeding within minutes, and many parents notice an easier latch the same day.
How do I know if my baby has a tongue or lip tie?
Common signs include a painful or shallow latch, clicking sounds while feeding, poor weight gain, reflux-like symptoms, or a lip that won’t flange. In older children and adults, ties can show up as speech difficulty, mouth breathing, or dental spacing. A consultation is the only way to know for sure.
What happens at the consultation?
We listen to your feeding or breathing concerns, examine the tongue and lip function (not just their appearance), and explain whether a release would help. Infant consultations include low-level red-light therapy and complimentary in-person follow-ups — whether or not a release is done.
What is aftercare like?
We teach you simple stretches to keep the area open as it heals, and we coordinate with lactation consultants and myofunctional therapists when helpful. Most families are given a clear at-home routine and follow-up visits are included for infants.
Do you treat older children and adults?
Yes. Tongue and lip ties don’t only affect babies — they can contribute to speech issues, mouth breathing, sleep problems, and jaw tension at any age. Dr. Kapoor performs laser releases for children and adults as well as infants.
How much does it cost?
Consultations are $375 and include the evaluation (and, for infants, red-light therapy and follow-ups). We are out-of-network and provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement. We’ll go over any procedure costs before anything is scheduled.
